DALLAS – October 12, 2015 – Dallas Market Center and the ARTs nominating committee selected Robert Currey of Currey & Company as this year’s Academy of Achievement honoree.
“Robert Currey received an unprecedented number of nominations for Academy of Achievement this year from across the industry, “Sharon Davis, Executive Director of ART said. “After such strong endorsement, the committee agreed that he was the obvious choice.”
Currey founded Garden Source Furnishings, now Currey & Company, in 1988 with the focus of creating and marketing classic garden furniture from the Winterthur Museum and the Smithsonian Institution. By the early 1990s the collection expanded to include lighting and a new focus for interior furnishings. Currey, long time innovator in the home furnishing industry, now focuses his time running a small sustainable market garden in Sparta, Georgia.
“With a lifetime of home furnishing experience, Robert Currey has built a reputation as a legendary merchant, a designer and manufacturer,” Cindy Morris, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center said. “Robert grew one store into twenty eight and design ideas into a vast collection of stylish products. His accomplishments are a testimony to his hard work and dedication to the home furnishings industry.”
