The Director of Sales is responsible for planning and execution of sales strategy for the local channel as directed by the Vice President of Sales in order to achieve revenue as well as strategic goals of the company. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring effective day to day sales management of the Local sales channel. This position is responsible for recruiting, hiring, and directing managers and staff within the sales department. DEMDACO is looking for someone who is goal oriented, proactive and a strategic futuristic thinker. The position requires considerable vision, a strong entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to be comfortable making risk decisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (additional duties may be assigned)

Achieve local channel revenue goals of the company
Develop and manage objectives and goals for direct reports as well as department in general
Develop strategies, policies, systems and performance management tools to ensure effective day to day management of the sales department and achievement of objectives
Make detailed and comprehensive recommendations to ensure fair and equitable decision making regarding accounts, distribution, territories, compensation, incentives and merchandising programs
Communicate consistently and effectively to department including both field and corporate staff regarding sales issues
Develop and manage systems for reporting and accountability in order to manage national, regional and territory performance
Develop and execute comprehensive project plans including timelines, resource requirements, constraints, decision making and budgetary considerations
Report to Vice President of Sales and on a weekly basis regarding project status, issues management, opportunities and performance
Work with other departmental managers including; Marketing, Product Development; Supply Chain Management, Finance, IT, Credit, Customer Care and Order Processing to streamline and improve processes and resolve problems.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Gift and Decorative Accessories Industry or other Consumer Packaged Goods Experience preferred but not required
Minimum of seven years business to business Senior Sales Management experience
Understanding of sales process including:
Needs assessment
Qualifying accounts as well as decision makers
Contracting to gain understanding, agreement and forward moving action plan
Ability to develop creative solutions to customer needs
Creative Presentation skills
Provide follow up and service
Experience with both local and key accounts selling
Sales Management and MBO experience including managing complex sales structure
Sound decision making skills
Thorough understanding of field sales force dynamics
Ability to work in an rapidly evolving and dynamic environment
Ability to effectively manage and motivate managers and staff that may have complex highly emotional social styles
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite:
Detail oriented with the ability manage multiple high priority projects and meet deadlines
Able to follow directions and effectively execute directives

Physical Demands:

Moderate travel to trade shows and markets, for customer visits or for other sales management activity
Some lifting and carrying of products and merchandising materials in master cartons and shipping cartons for merchandising projects and trade shows.
Occasionally required to move or set up for meetings or show displays including but not limited to furniture and display pieces.
