Rachel Ashwell Headlines Vintage Collections in Dallas This June

Full Schedule of Special Presentations During Largest Vintage Marketplace

DALLAS – May 28, 2015 – Dallas Market Center today announced that founder of the iconic Shabby Chic brand, Rachel Ashwell, will headline the vintage experience during the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, June 24-30, 2015. Ashwell will deliver a market-wide presentation on June 25 at noon in the World Trade Center Hall of Nations followed by a book signing in the Charles Ray showroom (WTC 9002). Ashwell will also participate in a Q&A session at 3 p.m. the same day in Market Hall.

Ashwell’s appearance supports the largest vintage collections of any market this summer and the only Market offering the full Round Top experience, showcasing more than 100 exhibitors from the legendary antiques market in the Texas Hill Country.

Ashwell will be joined by Paige and Smoot Hull, creators and owners of The Vintage Round Top, who will present “A Modern Vintage Life“ on June 27 at noon in the World Trade Center Hall of Nations followed by a 3 p.m. Meet & Greet the same day in Market Hall.

A former movie set designer and stylist, Ashwell was inspired to develop the brand after setting out to create a home for her two young children that was as practical as it was beautiful. The first Shabby Chic store opened in 1989 on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica, Calif. and introduced her iconic washable slipcovered furniture, bedding and vintage flea market finds. Ashwell has gone on to educate and inspire fans through a series of books, being featured in top national home and lifestyle publications, appearing on the Oprah Winfrey Show and hosting “Rachel Ashwell’s Shabby Chic” show on the Style Network and E! for four years. In 2004, the brand partnered with Target to create the Simply Shabby chic line of home furnishings and décor which continues to bring the iconic English elegance to consumers internationally.

It was in in 2011 that Ashwell opened a bed and breakfast in Round Top, Texas: The Prairie by Rachel Ashwell with seven houses on 46 acres of beautiful landscape that allows all to experience the lifestyle of Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic Couture. A giveaway of a free stay at The Prairie will be awarded to one market attendee during Thursday’s Market Hall Q&A session.

Also in 2011, Paige and Smoot Hull purchased and renovated a 14-year-old farm house on an acre and a half of land in Round Top, Texas with clean, modern lines and vintage touches. It was after some time when they decided to develop a vacation home rental business to share their home with others. After several guests asked to purchase the upcycled and repurposed items found in the home, they began their antique and décor business. The lodging, antiques business, home goods collection and hotel amenity line all encompass The Vintage Round Top lifestyle brand. In 2014, The Vintage Round Top was named Country Living Magazine’s Round Top feature as "Where to Stay" and as an editor "Top Vendor Pick”.

Round Top, a small town located in central Texas, hosts one of the world’s largest antique and vintage fairs twice a year. Adventurers and treasure-seekers travel from all parts of the U.S. to discover unique product or gain inspiration from layers of unique vendor displays among the backdrop of the Texas Hill Country. Since 2012, Dallas Market Center has produced Round Top in Dallas, with more than 100 vintage wholesales showcasing antiques or products with a story.

“Round Top has long been a destination and source of inspiration for my brand,” said Ashwell. “The option for buyers to take advantage of the exclusive Round Top experience among their other buying needs in Dallas is a unique opportunity. The resources available are unmatched and I can’t wait to speak in Dallas this June.”
