Dallas Market Center is inviting applications for a Junior Systems Administrator position from motivated individuals keen on advancing their career in IT. This role provides a robust platform to transition from a senior Help Desk role to a Systems Administrator, managing and optimizing our IT infrastructure. The candidate will gain hands-on experience in managing both physical and virtual servers, network hardware, and software, focusing on Windows Server, VMware, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365 Business, and Azure environments under the mentorship of our seasoned Systems Administrators. This is an on-site position.

A methodical approach to testing hypotheses, coupled with a strong analytical mindset and the capacity to learn and adapt, is essential. Your ability to document and communicate the resolution process, fostering a collaborative learning environment, will significantly contribute to our IT operations' continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in overseeing and maintaining our physical and virtual server environments, focusing on our VMware setup.
  • Support in installing, configuring, and managing Windows servers and related software, ensuring secure, efficient operation.
  • Help to uphold security measures, ensuring proper implementation of firewall rules and security protocols.
  • Aid in scheduling and coordinating system upgrades, minimizing downtime.
  • Participate in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware, software, and system issues.
  • Provide technical support to employees, collaborating closely with Help Desk staff.
  • Analyze user needs and design solutions that follow best practices and support DMC's long-term goals.
  • Assist in executing backup/recovery routines, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Support in administering Exchange Online security policies, including monitoring of mail flow and email quarantines.
  • Help to manage Microsoft Active Directory systems, including DNS, DHCP, and other associated technologies.
  • Assist in handling user accounts, aiding in employee on-boarding/off-boarding and specifying system access levels.
  • Support in managing domain names, SSL certificates, and website management.
  • Assist in maintaining on-premises Cisco switch/routers and phone systems.


  • Associate degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a senior Help Desk role or similar.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365 Business, and VMware environments.
  • Willingness to learn and improve technical skills under mentorship.
  • Analyze user needs and design solutions that follow best practices and support DMC's long-term goals.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and adapt to new challenges.
  • Eagerness to provide technical support, even outside standard office hours when required.
  • Previous experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Exposure to project management/coordination a plus.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
